President's Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Newcastle Law Society.

The Newcastle Law Society is a regional law society which represents almost 600 solicitors, both in the private and public sectors in the Newcastle area. Our objectives are, amongst others, to promote and support local legal initiatives, to lobby on key issues affecting the local legal profession and to assist with the provision of educational and training opportunities for the local profession.

Featured Practitioner

Trevor Hamilton Dunn

Trevor Hamilton Dunn retired from practice as a solicitor earlier this year after more than 50 years in the law. Trevor would be well-known to very many practitioners in Newcastle, the HunterValley and beyond, and he is someone who has made a significant contribution not only to the protection of the interests of his own clients, but also to the general community. We recognise Trevor’s contribution and congratulate him for it.

In 1958, Trevor was articled to Ian McKenzie of the firm then known as H V Harris Wheeler & Williams who at that time were one of the biggest and busiest firms in Newcastle. He was admitted to practice as a solicitor in 1965 and became a partner of the firm the following year. In 1985 Trevor left Harris Wheeler and established his own firm, Trevor Dunn & Associates, subsequently known as DunnRoss Lawyers.
